lissaevans asked: I loved your book! I could definitely see it being made into a movie. If it was, who would you choose to play each character? :)

Thank you thank you! Oh my goodness I would have to think about that! I would need so many actors because of all the different ages in the flashbacks! I would love for Zooey Deschanel to play Diana in the wedding/college scenes, because if Diana is me and if I could have anyone play me, I would want to be her… but more realistically I would maybe go for Rachel Bilson. Lauren Conrad would be literally perfect if she wanted to do some acting and dye her hair. I would cast Emma Stone as Margo for SURE. I would love for Ashley Tisdale to play Melanie - she would fit perfectly. For Shane I would want Penn Badgley, but that’s tough because I would want Chace Crawford for Hunter and this is not the Gossip Girl movie. I would put Victoria Justice in the teenage roles because she looks enough like Rachel Bilson to make it work. Maybe Joey King for the little girl stuff?

If this ever becomes a movie, when the book gets bought to be adapted, in the contract I’m having my lawyer add in something about how I get to cast the movie.

Who do you guys see the characters as when you’re reading it? That’s definitely a question I would love to hear the answers to.

dandeli0n-inthespring asked: I don't quite know how long this'll last, so bare with me.
I saw every girl, and possibly me, in Diana in chapter 11, when Shane made her apologize for getting mad at him for hurting her feelings. I honestly wanted to slap her in the face and yell "What is wrong with you?! Can't you see how ALL wrong he is for you!?" You said it beautifully in the beginning of the end. Love does blind us. It makes us immune to all the flaws of that person. Sometimes, it's beautiful to a imperfect person perfectly, but in Diana's case, I was just about to go crazy. How could Shane treat her like crap and tell he can't live without her?! How could she take hit after hit and then apologize for hitting back!? That's love. That's stupid, crazy, beautiful, young love. Oh, & I loved the ending. Diana needed to save herself from a life that would've destroyed her. Thank God for Hunter. Diana's & yours.
You need to get this book published, then go on a book tour, come to SoCal, and sign my copy. Please & thank you. Amazing job.
P.S. Bring Shane.

Thank you so much. I am absolutely blown away by everything everyone has said to me, because this was really difficult. It was difficult to live the first time and then it was difficult to live the second time when I wrote this book and it’s still difficult, editing it now and getting it perfect to try to find a publisher, but I think it’s worth it because it’s healing me at the same time, and I 100% believe that it’s truly about letting what hurts you heal you. And it’s also worth it because I’m NOT the only girl who has gone through this and maybe readers being able to see themselves in Diana will help them in their own situations. This is the most personal thing I’ve ever written and it’s hard to let it be subject to everyone’s eyes and opinions, but the way everyone has received it has really touched me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read it and I am so happy that you liked it. Thank you thank you thank you. Publishing, book tour, I am all about it. Shane is QUITE the little fame whore so I think bringing him along will be NO problem. ;)

Again, thank you.

yourprettylittlemind-deactivate asked: Oh my gosh. I am literally so sad that I no longer have new chapters to look forward to. But seriously, this book.... is SO good. You know how to convey feelings and emotions and real life so well. And I know this book is so personal to you, and I commend you for being able to put it all out there. (Another reason you are similar to tswift). It was so sweet and funny and endearing and I cannot get over how talented you are. It is heartbreaking that Shane and Diana did not end up together, but Hunter doesn't seem half bad :) And I will be one proud girl when I see this book at my local Barnes and Noble :) You are amazing.

Thank you SO much Sally. This made my NIGHT! I love you and I can’t wait to see you.

Such big compliments. I hope I live up to them in the future. :) Thank you so so so so much for reading it. I am SO happy to hear that you liked it! <3

ANDDDD… the ending ;D

Thank you so much for reading as I wrote this book, the fastest I’ve ever written anything, and cheering me on through the whole process. I love everyone who took the time to read what I had to say, and especially those who took the time to tell me what they thought.

This book is for you - for all the girls who read this and thought, “damn, I can relate to this.” Because I’ve been there. A lot of us have.

The great thing about it is that although about 85% of this book really happened to me, there is no single person in the world who knows exactly what’s true and what’s not. My close friends know the most of it, the boy who inspired it knows more than anyone else does, but nobody knows all of what’s true, and that I will leave you up to guess.

The characters who populated this story are real. Shane is real, Diana is typing right now, Margo exists as a combination of two of my best friends, and the girl who is a stranger to me but who I’ve built up in my head to be villainous enough to be represented a little bit in each and every girl Shane was ever interested in is a little too real, as well.

And holy crap, Hunter, when you read this book I am screwed.

All I have to say is thank you, and I hope I am able to make everyone proud by making the final product on a shelf in a bookstore someday.

To my Shane, this is for both of us. Thank you for being unlike the Shane in the story who didn’t let me walk away from what is a friendship that doesn’t happen to the same person twice - despite everything I am lucky to have you in my life. You will always be my soulmate, and I promise you will be sitting at that table with me at my first book signing. Thank you for supporting me and loving my writing almost as much as I do. This is a story the world deserves to hear and I will see to it that they do. “Your world would be easier if I didn’t come back,” Chuck said. “That’s true,” Blair agreed, “but it wouldn’t be my world without you in it.” I love you, mac. Couldn’t have written this without you.

Enjoy.

Tomorrow or later tonight I’ll post the official ending, and this weekend I’ll be asking for proofreading and editing help from anyone who wants to read the “finished” version. :)

emilyannxx asked: Nicole,
Can I just say this this story is probably one of the best things my eyes have ever read in my entire eighteen and a half years of existence? Your writing exactly how I, and probably others, think and the words seem to come so effortlesy to you that I am almost jealous. I wish I could write like you. You honestly have a gift that needs to be shared with the world. This story will be read by every teenage girl in the world one day (soon, hopefully) and they will feel like you are plucking the words right from their hearts, just like I feel. You know how everyone says Taylor Swift's lyrics are basically their life in song form, I feel like this story, and your writing in general, is that as well. One minute I'm in love with Shane and the next I'm cursing him and hoping to God Diana will get over this douche. I absolutely can not wait to read the rest of this story. I feel like I've known these characters my whole life. I will promote this story 4838478374 times! Okay I am done. All I have left to say is I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE  YOU. And pleasepleaseplease don't forget me when you're all big and famous living in New York writing novels, living your dream. :)
-Emily

PS. I lost all my numbers. So please text me and let me know it's you. THANKS<3

AHH I LOVE YOU! I am so happy to hear that you loved it and you gave me every compliment I ever hoped I would get about my writing. I doubt this story a lot sometimes because I wonder if anyone but me will understand it because it’s so personal to me and it’s such a relief to hear that you do. Thank you thank you thank you. I love you.
